Ferrol (80,000 inhabitants) is located inside a narrow estuary in the northwestern
corner of Spain, in the region of Galicia. Its character of naval
base along with the civil and military shipbuilding are the two
main sources of activity. The Cartesian structure of the city
center, legacy of its military origin which goes back several
centuries, is surrounded by the typical Galician landscape of
green hills, which reaches its most beautiful expression in the
numerous beaches that can be found in the area.
